ABOUT

“Our goal is to provide a purpose-driven environment in which student-athletes can reach their highest pursuits while being developed holistically as a player and man.”
– Matthew Hunter (17u HC & Operational Director)

OUR HISTORY

Hill City Crash was founded in the spring of 2014. Based out of Lynchburg, Virginia, HCC uses high-level basketball as a developmental vehicle to connect young men with the transformational power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our teams compete in the Big Shots Circuit as Virginia’s Premier SLAM Program. Our focus in competition is to use high-level basketball as a vehicle for holistic development both on and off of the court. Our aim is to develop complete players and complete men who can thrive in life both during and after basketball because of their sense of purpose found in the Gospel of Christ. We do this by providing high-level basketball in a purpose-driven environment that helps athletes find their purpose both in and out of sport. Each team is staffed with purpose-driven coaches and a team chaplain who model living out purpose through high-level sport.
Throughout the first-two years of the organization, HCC grew from one team with 12 members to four teams with 45 members. Rising in the independent ranks, HCC joined the Big Shots Circuit as a Powered By Big Shots program in the Spring of 2017. HCC remained on the Big Shots Circuit as a Powered By Big Shots Program until 2023 where they reached unprecedented levels of success. At the end of 2023, HCC announced a contract with the Puma NXTPro Circuit. HCC competed nationally on the Puma NXT Circuit for the 2023-2024 season. After rejecting a contract extension, HCC announced that they would return to Big Shots in a new agreement as their premier SLAM Program in the state of Virginia. In our short history, HCC has partnered with student-athletes and their families to directly place over 30 student-athletes into all levels of college basketball. Furthermore, HCC has witnessed exponential growth in the behavior, academics, and spiritual life of many young men in our region. Despite all of this progress and success, HCC is just getting started. The future looks bright and dynamic as we continue to grow the #CrashBuildsLeaders Brotherhood across the Commonwealth.
